Bearsden Fiddlers were formed in 1972,
and from relatively small beginnings,
now have a thriving membership of
around 50 players. We meet to practise
every Tuesday evening at Cairns Church,
and also play a number of gigs
throughout the season from September
to May. Our annual Fiddlers Rally is held
in Milngavie Town Hall every November.
Our conductor is Allan MacDougall.
Allan plays a number of instruments,
and very much enjoys arranging music
for the Fiddlers. He says he has two aims
for Bearsden Fiddlers - to help them to
play as well as possible and to make sure
that while doing this, they, and our
audiences, have an enjoyable time.

Originally from Greenock,
Charlie macpherson is the
leader of the Bearsden Fiddlers.
He has been a member since 1981.
Charlie makes violins and to date
has made over eighteen.
He also composes music,
mainly in traditional Scottish style.
many of his compositions have won
1st prize in tune writing competitions
across scotland.

Amy Lewis, our Deputy Leader and
Deputy Musical Director is an
award winning young fiddler.
She is a full time nurse, wife and mother,
but still finds time to play.
She and Allan have been performing as a
duo for over 15 years, and have raised
over £15,000 for charity,
through the sale of their CD's.
